2019 New Years Goal setting is in full swing.

One of our goals for 2018 was to have a long holiday over Christmas and the new year. As we write this we are achieving our goal for 2018 and exploring Thailand and Bali. On the second day of the year we completed a task that was both mentally and physically challenging. Waking up at 1:30am to climb an active volcano here in Bali. With the determination to reach the top in time to see sunrise, we pushed ourselves and made it to see only clouds, but it was a challenge we accomplished!

Reflecting on 2018 we have enjoyed a successful year with EVERETT Property Development Management and PROPERTY FEED. Whilst sitting poolside in a villa in Ubud, we write this to share how we as project managers create realistic goals for a bigger and better 2019. So without further ado here they are.

How to set New Years goals:

Ensure you have set a decent amount of time for this activity as it took us a full day of strategic work-shopping.

  1. Start by selecting topics that reflect on your daily life and relate to you the most. For example, our topics were
  • Personal
  • Business
  • Health
  • Finance
  • Relationships
  1. Now reflecting back on 2018.
  • What did you achieve?
  • What didn’t you achieve?
  • What did you learn?
  1. Still on the topic of reflection but more about how you feel about 2018.
  • What are you lacking in life right now?
  • What do you want to improve on?
  • What do you want more of in 2019?
  • What do you want less of in 2019?
  1. Now envision how you wish to see 2019 . Really think about your priorities here and think about what drives you to get up every day.
  1. It’s time to hit the core goals – under each of your topics (personal, business, financial, health etc.) write three goals and an achievable timeframe to reach that particular goal.
  1. Last but not least go back over your goals under each topic and really define them using the SMART method:

Now you have goals in place, it will take dedication to ensure you achieve them according to your set timely goal.
